Kitaoka-San is the 3rd generation to be awarded the Master Blacksmith award. He works out of Takefu Knife Village. Kitaoka-San only makes tradition single bevel knives. Born in 1950 he learned to make knives from his father and grandfather. His knives have great edge retention and are less brittle then many other knives.
His Suminagashi knives are truly works of art.
