Katsushige Anryu has been a blacksmith for over 50 years. He apprenticed under his father. He is incredibly meticulous. We love his shapes. His knives are incredibly thin, great taper, and awesome finishes.
Anryu-San layers soft iron to make damascus pattern the forge welds it to the Shirogami core. It makes this knife have a beautiful pattern on the bevels.
As many of us know Anryu-San has retired. He leaves his incredibly talented, more then capable nephew Ikeda-San who has been at his side for the past 15 years making many of the knives you have purchased. We are excited to see some new designs come from him after he settles in and gets caught up on all the back orders.
